Join The Potter's House for a free book talk with Adrian Shanker (pictured) about "Bodies and Barriers: Queer Activists On Health", a collection of artfully articulated and well-researched essays by twenty-six activists that tackle the pervasive health issues queer people experience throughout their lives. The book includes a foreword by Rachel L. Levine, M.D., currently the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health, and an afterword by Kate Kendell who, for 24 years, led National Center for Lesbian Rights as their Executive Director.
Adrian Shanker, editor of the forthcoming book is Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center in Allentown, PA. An accomplished activist and organizer for LGBT health equity, Adrian has developed numerous health promotion campaigns to advance health equity through behavioral, clinical, and policy changes.
