The Brown Girl’s Guide to Politics was started in early 2018 after A’Shanti F. Gholar realized there was no place for women of color that were interested in politics to go to get advice on how to get involved in politics, receive news about how politics impacts women of color or find out about women of color running for elected office. She created the blog, and later the podcast, to help fill this void.
