Plan Colombia: U.S. Ally Atrocities and Community Activism (Duke University Press) narrates the story of a rural Colombian community in a conflict area that declared itself a peace community, a massacre that occurred there in 2005, and U.S. grassroots and government responses. Parallel to this, the book recounts and analyzes the multi-billion U.S. program known as Plan Colombia and the impact of U.S. military involvement on killings by the Colombian military, as well as the many grassroots initiatives that have resisted war and injustice. 

John Lindsay-Poland is Healing Justice Associate at the American Friends Service Committee. Lindsay-Poland will speak about Plan Colombia together with Diana Sánchez, an attorney with the Colombian human rights organization Minga, which seeks justice for extrajudicial executions committed by the Colombian army.
