Food For Thought: From Farm to Table
Curious about the story behind bringing sustainable food to your plate?
As Part Two of Ad 2 DC's "Food for Thought" series at The Potter's House, we're thrilled to bring you three exciting mini-documentaries created by local filmmakers exploring several sources of sustainable food, and the intricacies around bringing it to your table.
We'll be viewing:
--"El Cacao" to examine the "fairness" of fair trade and cacao farming in the jungles of Panama
--"50 Years of Farming: For Love & Vegetables" to learn the story of the motivated minds behind the "ecoganic" Potomac Vegetable Farms in northern Virginia
--"The Culture of Collards" to celebrate the importance of food to our cultures and how local DC innovators are inspiring future generations through community gardens
We will follow the films with a Q&A session with Michelle Aguilar, filmmaker for "El Cacao", and Lindsey Smith, food systems consultant working with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Enjoy refreshments from The Potter's House, who is committed to serving ethically sourced food, plus the chance to win a movie night gift basket!
Free to attend; $20 donation encouraged. All donations support Ad 2 DC's Pro Bono Public Service Campaign for The Potter's House. Register here:http://www.aafdc.org/civicrm/event/info?id=328&reset=1.
