Loving Life on the Margins with Suzanne and Brayton Shanley

  • The Potter's House 1658 Columbia Road Northwest Washington United States (map)

Join The Potter's House for a free book talk with Suzanne Belote Shanley and Brayton Shanley (both pictured) about their book, "Loving Life on the Margins: The Story of the Agape Community"! Suzanne Belote Shanley and Brayton Shanley are co-founders of The Agape Community, a lay Catholic residential community on 34 acres of land in Central MA. Started 37 years ago, Agape has welcomed hundreds for retreats and rural immersions to learn contemplation, nonviolence, and sustainability.

In Loving Life on the Margins: the Story of the Agape Community, the authors say they attempt to do what Jesus asked: "Interpret the present time" (Luke 12:56) through the lens of the past. The authors hope the reader will find in the Agape story something worthy of interpretation as a commentary on the lineage and future of small faith communities their own.
