communion for 8th Day
Eighth Day Faith Community worships on Sundays at 10:15AM.
Elizabeth O'Connor and Bill Price started Eighth Day Faith Community whose idea was that we pick up the creative work of God on the 8th Day of Creation and become co-creators with God to realize a world of justice and peace inwardly and outwardly. Eighth Day's first mission was as a sanctuary church to many fleeing persecution in Central America. Members then and now share their housing and resources with those who come to our country seeking political asylum. Consequently, this community is organically diverse including community members from Guatemala, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and the U.S. Worship includes folk style music from many Christian traditions. Childcare and Sunday school is provided with the first Sunday of each month dedicated to a children's teaching. Each third Sunday is followed by a potluck and the youth group meets on 1st and 3rd Sundays.

Taizeé candles
Taizé Community worships on Mondays 7 – 8pm.
The Taizé Community in France has developed a beautiful, simple, repetitive and therefore contemplative style of chant. Praying through these chants helps us enter silence in midst of the inner city. Come join us for song, scripture, and silence. We have been meeting weekly since January 2000 and lead the annual Good Friday service. For questions, call Sam Miller 202-832-2772 or Carolyn Bluemle 301-588-2925. All are welcome.

This church was started by Gordon Cosby in 1999 as a new way to come together for meaningful dialogue and practice of scripture where it applies to relationships that break down barriers of race and class.
